Summer brings Sun and smiles around and the National Broadcast have made a direct show from Milfontes to Present our National Park as one of the seven wonders of Portugal. One of the guests was Tim a famous singer in Portugal who was born around. Amazing landscape and good music it’s a fantastic mix and Tim his the ideal personality to represent us in this contest. Waves, fun, board, barbecue, activity, relax, friability… words that mix with our flexibility and accommodation. For the surfers who have visited us it’s a surprise when they see the amazing beaches and feel the warm welcome from local people. This unexplored coastline offers unique conditions for the surf lovers. From springtime to early winter the coastline offers perfect waves to all sizes: beginners/ experts. Our guesthouse Casa da Eira is the base and the perfect spot in Vila Nova de Milfontes village where people find good restaurants and bars in a relax and local style… yap, I must tell you in Alentejo things go slow, so bring yourself and a guitar and let’s do it!

I used to live surrounding by 1 million people, that’s Lisbon! When I moved to Alentejo 4 years ago everything changed and now I’ve a small family of 3 thousand people… that’s Milfontes! and that means lots of space and we’ve everything we need for an outdoor activity holiday: the magnificent sea, the extraordinary river, the fabulous hills… and the amazing Funcheira Railway Station. The first time I went there I couldn’t believe in my eyes: literally in the middle of nowhere, thirty four miles from my village, one old building with a strong character stuck in time. Nothing moves around and suddenly down on the horizon a train. Funny is when some of our guests choose the train as best option from airport to Milfontes and ask us: “ok we will catch the train but how we will recognize you when we stop at Funcheira?”. I answer to that question with a smile and a simple comment: “don’t worry, probably you will be the only ones!”.

Hey… world crisis? Not around here… at least is what they say! The numbers of tourists are growing and the demand for rural tourism increasing fast. This preserved area faraway from massive places still unknown and the real nature travelers seem to know how to find a good holiday break. But… more doesn’t mean crowd and we seek to keep this area clean and preserved, devoted to nature lovers and people who really appreciate to discover the roots of an ancient people.
