Herdade da Matinha

We use this hotel as part of our Walking Charming hotel holiday. Herdade da Matinha is located in a magnificent valley, surrounded by Serra do Cercal, and offers 8 double rooms in an absolutely irresistible environment. Mónica and Alfredo have been living in this house for more than 10 years, and here have also grown their three children. The way they dedicate themselves to the Herdade can be felt in every detail, turning it into a very special place, an environment with an impeccable taste.

The old house, gradually refurbished, did not loose its original charm. They designed eight double rooms for their guests to rest, because here the living is outside, under the porch, or in one of the pleasant corners of the Herdade. The hotter or rainy days invite to stay in the common living room, to seize the good music which is always present, read a book or take a look into a good magazine.

The activities are thought of with the same care. Yoga sessions with a truly inspiring teacher, mini surf trips for the mornings of the younger ones, guided or independent hikes (if you wish, you may order a snack) and occasional events with well-known jazz musicians. But the distinctive mark of Herdade da Matinha are its famous gastronomy gatherings, perfect to entertain in a special evening or to spenda weekend with friends, between the really nice kitchen and the beautiful tablecloth sawn by Alfredo for the dinner table.
