“The kids and I had a great holiday. Was not quite sure what to expect when I booked but it more than lived up to expectations. The scenery on the 4th day was spectacular; it was like something out of a movie. We enjoyed each day. Duncan, in particular, loved every bit of this holiday and was a natural at most things. (Scared me lots!!!) He is quite disappointed that he will not meet you guys again. I would like to thank each one of your staff for the attention they gave us and how good they were with my children. Pretty knackered now – going home for a rest!!!” Jane Forsyth

“A great week. Thanks to everyone at Alentejo Adventures. It was fantastic to be able to swim in the river and waterfalls/pools-you are right to be very proud of the Alentejo region! The instructors/leaders were very professional and were able to help me to face my fear of heights and abseil down the cliff. They were also very flexible in their approach and went out of their way to cater for our needs. Roy and Maria helped to make it even more fun! It was my first time to Portugal but I don’t think it will be the last.” Graham Chapman

“Hi. Great holiday I loved the cross-country rider and the back of the Nissan. The abseiling was scary but awesome. The zip wire hasn’t scary but it was lots of fun. The instructors were good and we liked Miguel music from Jamie – Tom and Ed. The Surfing was like a washing machine for the adults we are the best and really professionals at surfing. The Archery was a really good idea and I really died by an arrow, which Jamie shot. I liked the day, which kept biting me. A very nice welcome package – just finished the mine! Found everybody really helpful and friendly and …show their love y the region and their enjoyed y the activities. It certainly rubbed off on us. I think when we come back to Portugal we shall certainly head NW from fats in this is a lovely area and a great place to stay. And great weathers!!!” Graham Stowell

Four important questions……

John Grant

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The most memorable part of our holiday was how everyone involved made us so welcome. The most exciting part of the holiday was the 40metre abseil down a cliff followed by a zip wire through the trees. Every day was an adventure and loads of fun.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Just go with the flow, the instructor was fabulous and told us all we needed to know. Take old clothes and just enjoy.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Definitely yes! Everything took place in a national park and we had to obey the park rules. We learned all about the local cultures and industry as well.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

10 out of 10! Could not find anything to fault it. Food was amazing and the activities were great. The people were extremely friendly and we had a ball. The rating below was from all 4 members of the family!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

This holiday was made by the people who looked after us during the week. All the tutors were great and spent time with us very patiently teaching us. They were particularly kind to the kids. We were taken to places we would never have got to see and did activities that we hadn’t done before. They shared their local knowledge – wine, food etc so this made it easy for us to get the most of things. This was a holiday that everyone in the family loved.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Add on a few days to see Lisbon- Book directly with the local operators.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

The whole area is restricted in development being a National Park and this has meant there are no high rise developments like in the Algarve. It is largely unspoiled by tourism and the group leader was very knowledgeable about the area and its nature, able to explain everything to us. They used private land without changing it, allowing the local people to make some money but without affecting the ecosystem. They added nothing and took nothing away. Food and people were all local to the area. We left with an appreciation of the beauty and a desire for it to remain unchanged.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent and good value for money.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Watching my 12 year old daughter surf for the first time (none of the rest of us could do it). Watching my husband abseiling for the first time over a very high cliff, and realizing that I would not do that. Also, more positively, during the scary rock-climbing, I remembered reading things I’d read about how to do it, and they all made sense. Also seeing all the storks and strange insects, and the amazing abundance of wild flowers (late March).

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this holiday?

Bring lots of changes of underwear, trainers and clothes, or wear swimsuits all the time. Bring arnica for bruises, and keep checking for ticks (we found one on the plane home). Lots of sunscreen and moisturizer and stuff to keep hair from feeling like barbed wire: there is more salt in the air than you might think… If you’re into wildlife, bring your bird, flowers and insect books.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

It certainly employs lots of local people and their skills, and put our tourist money exclusively into the local economy. I don’t feel we damaged the local environment at all, we took only pictures and left only footprints. We could, and would, have helped with rubbish pick-ups where we found it, so we could have done more ourselves to help.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Pretty damn good.
